TJ Dillashaw sees upside of McGregor getting immediate shot at lightweight
Following his 13 second UFC 194 KO win over Jose Aldo, it was revealed that Conor McGregor would be moving up to lightweight to challenge Rafael dos Anjos for his championship belt.
It was announced that the fight would headline UFC 197 on March 5th, while Holly Holm vs. Miesha Tate would be the co-main event for the bout.
While there’s been some controversy regarding McGregor challenging for the lightweight belt without vacating his featherweight championship, TJ Dillashaw sees a bit of an upside to the situation.
He spoke to MMAJunkie:
“It’s kind of crazy he gets a title shot right away, but I do like it. I like the fact they’re giving champions opportunities because now they’re going to have to let other champions do it.”
