By bjpenndotcom - March 16, 2013

Chris Camozzi vs. Nick Ring:

Active first round between the two middleweights as they both swung haymakers early. Camozzi seemed to have the more successful start as he landed a good amount of significant strikes. Camozzi also opened up a cut on Ring. Ring opened up more at the end of the first round, turning the tide of the fight in a round that Ring kept his hands very low for the duration of.

Ring found continued success in the second landing crisp combinations and peppering Camozzi with a stiff jab and relentless pressure. Ring kept his hands a bit higher and found a rhythm that put Camozzi out of his game. Ring went out of the second that, besides a knee, he seemed to control handily.

Camozzi seemed to have a sense of urgency in the third, advancing his position on Ring to start the round. Ring seemed to drop his guard more as well in this round, and Camozzi punished him for this as he seemed to be the fresher fighter in most of the exchanges. Ring gassed in this round and let Camozzi dictate the stand-up game for the entire round to finish out the third and final round.

Camozzi improves to 19-5 with a razor-thin split decision win over Nick Ring.

Final Result: Camozzi wins via Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29)
