UFC 181 Results: Little Pettis Batters Hobar, Earns Decision Win
Unlike his big brother, Sergio Pettis has been appearing in the octagon regularly since his UFC debut in November 2013. He has shown improvement every time he stepped in the octagon and it was no different with his performance tonight against Matt Hobar.
Pettis was dropped in the opening seconds of the fight and spent the majority of the opening round off his back, but he recovered quickly and actually turned the tables on Hobar even though he was on bottom. He landed serious strikes and even threatened an unorthodox triangle/straight armbar combination.
Pettis proceeded to fight an intelligent fight where he picked Hobar apart effortlessly without getting hit. Pettis could have finished the fight if he wanted to go out on a limb, but he fought smart and secured a victory by outstriking his opponent. Expect him to graduate from UFC Fight Pass status after this win; this is the type of dominant victory that will lead to another fight on Fox Sports 1.
Sergio Pettis def. Matt Hobar by way of Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
