UFC 183 Results: Tate Defeats McMann in Exciting Bout
Miesha Tate and Sara McMann put on one of the most exhilarating fights of the night with their bantamweight bout in the final fight of the preliminaries. It was performances like McMann’s and Tate’s that earn bonuses.
Sara McMann almost ended the fight in the opening minute of the first round when she wobbled Tate with a right hook. Tate tried to backpedal and ended up falling down, which let McMann easily gain top control. Tate closed the distance while on the ground which restricted McMann from throwing finishing blows. Tate was durable enough to make it to the second round where she almost finished the bout herself.
Tate connected a nice combination which forced McMann to go to her bread and butter by shooting for a takedown. Even though she landed a takedown, Tate caught her off guard with a guillotine choke! McMann was able to fight off the hold for the remainder of the round until she was saved by the horn.
McMann shot for a takedown in the final round but Tate turned the tables and forced a scramble that led to her gaining top control. Tate stayed busy enough to keep top control for the remainder of the round which gave her another 10-9 round and ultimately the victory.
