UFC 195 fighters discuss Conor McGregor’s impact on the UFC
It is undeniable that Conor McGregor is in fact a superstar in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.
The brash Irishman has drawn many viewers to the UFC given his marketability, and with feats such as predicting his UFC 194 KO over Jose Aldo, he has intrigued many ‘casual viewers’.
While it’s been 3 weeks since McGregor defeated Aldo to claim the UFC featherweight championship, the UFC 195 fighters gave their thoughts to MMAFighting about McGregor, and what he’s done for the sport.
Carlos Condit:
“He’s brought a lot of attention. He’s a great promoter, great salesman, but he also backs it up as a fighter, so, it’s been pretty impressive and great for the sport.”
Robbie Lawler:
“I think he’s brought a lot of new eyes, a whole island, a whole country with him, of crazy, supportive fight fans who love to get excited about fights and love to watch fights,” Lawler said. “So I think it brings a lot to the table. I think he’s getting the mainstream media involved a lot, he’s making people look at the sport a little differently.”
Andrei Arlovski:
“I guess he has done alright, to sell himself, promote himself. He’s the champion, so my opinion doesn’t matter at all.”
