UFC champ Rafael dos Anjos is eyeing a move to welterweight
As Raphael Dos Anjos prepares to defend his UFC lightweight championship at UFC on FOX 17 on December 19th, he can’t help but contemplate an eventual move to welterweight and avoid the brutal weight cut down to 155 pounds.
He spoke to Submission Radio:
“I just turned 31 and I have 31 fights as well. And I have plans to fight until maybe 37, 38, and I think what is really hard on the body is the weight cutting. And maybe like some years from now, maybe in a couple of years I want to do some fights at welterweight, just to have the extra 15 pounds.”
“But that’s my plans. I still got a lot of things to do in this division, but I have plans in the future to do some fights at welterweight.”
Dos Anjos has welcomed a fight with interim UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor when ‘Notorious’ eventually moves up to lightweight. With RDA’s plans to eventually move up to welterweight, do you think Dos Anjos vs. McGregor will happen?
