UFC Fight Night 38 Results: Santos/Parke Battle to a Majority Draw

By bjpenndotcom - March 23, 2014

Norman Parke walked into some trouble in the first round. He could not find a comfortable distance to strike from and was repeatedly popped with jabs from Leonardo Santos. Parke found some form of control when he pressed Santos against the cage, but he would not work for a takedown or try to land a punch as he separated. Santos landed a huge uppercut and the shot formed a mouse under the eye of Parke.

Parke found a little more success in his striking in the second round, but it was nothing impressive. Parke suffered a point deduction after he blatantly grabbed the shorts of Santos while working for a takedown. Santos faded in the second round and did not land much offense, which led many to believe the second round was a tie.

The point deduction negatively affected the pace of the fight as Norman Parke was fighting safe for either a draw or a win. The third round saw little to no action and a lot of Parke tying his opponent up.

The fight ended in a majority draw despite one judge rewarding Leonardo Santos a 29-27 victory.

Norman Parke and Leonardo Santos Battled to a Majority Draw (29-27, 28-28, 28-28)
