“UFC Fight Night 45” Results: Cerrone Drills and Finishes Miller with Head Kick in Round 2

By bjpenndotcom - July 16, 2014

Donald Cerrone capped off a night full of finishes with quite possibly the best of them all.

The fight opened up like the scrappy bout everyone had expected it to be. Usually, one fighter would have the advantage on the ground and the other standing. In this scenario, it was Cerrone who had the advantage in the kicking department while Miller caught Cerrone with some decent punches. The way the card has been going, it was surprising to see the fight leave the first round.

Cerrone stunned Miller with a front kick to the body at the start of the second round, but the referee thought it was a low-blow. He paused the fight and this allowed Miller to recover for a bit. Cerrone continued to throw the front kick to the body which set up opportunities for him to catch Miller off guard by changing levels.

Miller started to regain some of the momentum he had in the first round by landing unchecked leg kicks to Cerrone’s lead leg. Cerrone waited for the perfect moment to strike and after faking a punch, he landed a sickening head kick that froze Miller up.

Miller teetered over and fell to the mat. Cerrone went in for the kill, but the damage had already been done. The referee pulled Cerrone off of Miller before he could land anything serious.
