UFC Fight Night 70 Results: Yoel Romero Puts Machida’s Lights Out In The Third

The main event just went down between Lyoto Machida and Yoel Romero.

Machida looked to get back in the winning column and Romero looked to get one step closer to the UFC middleweight title.

The two touched gloves and Machida thew the first strike, a front kick. Machida tried for a body kick. Romero feinted a few times. Machida landed a nice leg kick. Another big leg kick from Machida. Machida was really looking to land kicks, to the body and the leg. Romero was really doing nothing, just waling Machida down. He tried a body kick. Romero landed a leg kick Romero landed a big right hand that looked like it stunned Machida, but he shook it off. Machida threw a spinning kick.

In the second they came out and both landed big shots in an exchange. Romero went for a head kick but missed. Machida continued to land leg kicks. Romero was simply just moving forward, not really doing anything as far as offense.

Romero clinched and threw a big jumping knee, then he ducked down like he was going to try a takedown, but didn’t. Left hand landed for Romero. A combo lands for Romero. Body kick landed form Machida. Romero lands another big left, then a body kick. Machida lands a leg kick body kick combo. Romero tries for a takedown as the round ends.

Romero comes out and lands a big left again. Leg kick from Romero landed. Romero lands a leg kick. Romero moves in and gets a takedown, then immediately goes to big ground and pound. He landed massive elbows to the face of Machida until Machida went limp and the referee stopped the fight. What big explosion from Romero.
