‘UFC Fight Night 71: Mir vs. Duffee’ set with 13 bouts

The octagon will return to the state of California next month for UFC Fight Night 71, a 13-bout fight card which takes place July 15 live from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego.

The event, which will air on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass, is headlined by a heavyweight bout featuring former UFC champion Frank Mir (17-9 MMA) taking on rising contender Todd Duffee (9-2 MMA).

Mir is coming off a first-round knockout victory over Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, while Duffee most recently earned a 33-second KO win over Anthony Hamilton.

In the co-main event of the evening, former Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez (22-5 MMA) will take on surging contender Al Iaquinta (12-3-1 MMA).

Melendez is coming off a close split-decision loss to former Bellator champ Eddie Alvarez, while Iaquinta recently earned a split-decision win over Jorge Masvidal.

Also on the card is a key lightweight tilt featuring former Strikeforce title holder Josh Thomson (20-7 MMA) taking on Tony Ferguson (18-3 MMA).
