UFC FN 57 Results: VanZant Defeats Curran in FOTN Contest

By bjpenndotcom - November 22, 2014

Paige VanZant WINS

Paige VanZant went through hell to make it to the octagon and she made it all worth it with a victory over Kailin Curran. Curran showed great resiliency in all three rounds of action and their clash of styles led to what should be a Fight of the Night contender.

VanZant was accepted as a contestant for this season’s “The Ultimate Fighter” but was promptly turned away when producers found out she was only 19 years old. The UFC signed her regardless and she made one hell of a debut.

Her and Curran ran to the center of the octagon and wasted no time in kicking off the action. It was almost a brawl as both ladies landed their fair share of significant strikes. Once the fight went to the ground, whoever was on top was landing brutal blows to the face of their opponent while the lady on the bottom was working for a submission.

VanZant positioned herself better and almost put away Curran with submissions multiple times. Curran was able to escape each attempt, but she would later succumb to strikes in the third round.

VanZant had Curran pressed against the octagon fence and executed a powerful takedown. VanZant fired off shots and Curran did not fight back; she simply covered up. The referee gave her plenty of time to fight back, but he was forced to separate the two and end the fight when Curran did not fight back.
