UFC FN 60 Results: Skelly Earns Controversial TKO Win Over Alers

Featherweights Jim Alers and Chas Skelly showcased their striking and grappling skills in front of the Colorado crowd during their bout at UFC Fight Night 60.

The opening round saw plenty of back and forth action between Alers and Skelly. Alers threatened an ankle lock in the second round, but Skelly refused to tap out and Alers eventually moved on past the hold. During his post-fight interview, Skelly admitted he felt his ankle pop multiple times.

Skelly started to land overhand rights at will in the second round that this was Alers’ ultimate downfall. Skelly started to dictate where the fight went in the second pinned Alers up against the cage fence. Skelly landed a couple overhand rights, one of which caught Alers on the eye. Alers doubled down in pain and fell to the mat where Skelly, without thinking, landed an illegal knee to the head of a downed Alers.

The referee saw the blow land clearly, but did not notice the knee was illegal. Skelly picked up the win by way of technical knockout despite suffering an ankle injury in the opening round.
