Flyweights Louis Smolka and Paddy Holohan went to war in the main event of ‘UFC Fight Night Dublin’.

Hometown hero Paddy Holohan opened the fight by throwing a front kick that narrowly missed Smolka.

Holohan pressed forward and got Smolka to engage in the clinch against the fence. That position would lead to a takedown for “The Hooligan” who promptly moved to side control.

Smolka looked to sink in a D’arce choke from the bottom, but Paddy wasn’t having it.

“Da Last Samurai” would eventually work his way to his feet and a mad scramble ensued.

Smolka would wind up in top position, but Holohan used a nifty sweep to regain top control.

After a brief battle on the ground, Smolka would get back to his feet and land three solid shots to end round 1.

Round 2 starts and it is clear that Smolka is trying to keep the distance and work his strikes.

Holohan is not having it and dives in for another successful takedown. “The Hooligan” instantly takes the back of the “Da Last Samurai” and begins looking for a choke as the Irish crowd goes wild.

Smolka would eventually manage to escape and ended up in top position. From there, “Da Last Samurai” would use some heavy ground and pound to move in to the mount position.

A few more strikes from Smolka and Holohan decides to give up his back. Smolka lands a few more devastating shots before sinking in a rear-naked choke that would force the Irishman to tapout.

With the victory, Hawaiian Louis Smolka (10-1 MMA) improves to 4-1 while fighting under the UFC banner.

Meanwhile, Paddy Holohan (12-2-1 MMA) moves to 3-2 inside the octagon.

Louis Smolka submits Paddy Holohan via rear-naked choke at 4:09 of round 2.
