UFC Heavyweight Frank Mir Signs New 8 Fight Contract
Looks like UFC heavyweight Frank Mir won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. The vet announced, via his Instagram, that he has signed a new 8-fight contract with the promotion.
Mir’s last fight was anything but legendary. He fought fellow champ Andrei Arlovski in a fight that many were expecting to be the fight of the night. With the hype from both of their last fights, Arlovski’s insane war with Travis Browne and Mir’s one-hitter-quitter of Todd Duffee, it was assumed we’d see an all out battle until one of them went to sleep. That’s not what happened. They instead fought for the full three rounds, sort of just plotting around the cage, with no one really landing any real significant strikes.
Arlovski ended up getting the decision, one that Mir and plenty of fans found sort of controversial. There’s been recent talks that the two of them are willing to do a rematch, if the UFC wants them to.
In a recent Instagram post, Mir announced the new contract, saying that he talked about it on his new podcast, ‘Phone Booth Fighting.’
I just broke the news on my podcast @phoneboothfighting that I have signed a new 8 fight deal with The @ufc –
