UFC on FOX 11 Results: Tate Almost Submits Carmouche, Ends Up with Decision Win

By bjpenndotcom - April 19, 2014

Liz Carmouche closed the distance right off the bat and relied on her grappling to take control of the fight. Miesha Tate often found herself pressed up against the fence and eventually on her back. Tate looked too relaxed in the first round and she picked up her pace in round two.

She charged to the middle of the octagon and was prepared to duke it out, but Carmouche went back to the clinch against the cage. Her strategy was to sap the energy right out of Tate. Carmouche almost walked into trouble as Tate tried to lock in a standing guillotine. Tate started to pull on it and Carmouche was forced to give up her favorable positioning to escape the hold.

Tate opened up the third round with a nice right and followed it up by a takedown. Carmouche was able to get right back up only to get taken down again. Tate eventually made it to the back of Carmouche and worked for a rear naked choke. It looked like she had it locked in but Carmouche saved herself by peeling Tate’s arm away so she couldn’t crank. Carmouche made it to the end of the final round and the fight went to a judges’ decision.

Miesha Tate def. Liz Carmouche by way of Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
