UFC plans to return to Boston this year | UFC News
The UFC will be returning to Boston for the first time since August of 2010 when it hosts an event later this year.
UFC President Dana White confirmed the plans following this past weekend’s UFC 158 event in Montreal:
“We’ll be going back to Boston this year. We’ll do Boston this year. … I said it recently, but it’ll be sooner than people think. I just can’t announce it yet.”
UFC 118 was the last event to be held in Boston, that card featured a lightweight title fight between then-lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and ex-titleholder B.J. Penn. Additionally, Randy Couture easily submitted boxer James Toney in the pay-per-view co-headliner.
The event, which also coincided with a UFC Fan Expo, drew 14,168 spectators for a live gate of approximately $2.8 million.
