UFC Releases Two More Fighters

By bjpenndotcom - May 6, 2013

The UFC cuts continue as featherweights Pablo Garza and Antonio Carvalho were released from the organization this week.

Pablo Garza (12-4) is 3-3 in the Octagon, but three of those losses have come in his last four outings. His most recent fight was a first round submission loss to Diego Brandao at UFc on Fuel TV 9 in Sweden last month. Garza entered the UFC in impressive fashion, winning Knockout of the Night honors in his debut, and Submission of the Night honors in his second bout.

Garza made an official statement on his release on his Facebook page:

“In life’s journey we can walk many paths and while some may close there are others that will open. I am sad to say, that I have been released from the UFC roster. But I will take this time to focus on another passion of mine; competing in Jiu Jitsu and coaching. And who knows, I might be back in the Octagon again one day… Once again thank you all!”

Antonio Carvalho (15-6) is 2-2 in the UFC, with his most recent outing a first round TKO loss to Darren Elkins at March’s UFC 158. After a back-and-forth standup battle, Carvalho was hit off balance and dropped to one knee. Yves Lavigne jumped in quickly to stop the fight even though Carvalho was jumping up to continue fighting. Many consider the stoppage a bit premature, but either way it was a loss on the fighter’s record leading to his release.

Carvalho took to Twitter to announce his release:

What do you think about the latest fighter releases? are they justified?
