VanZant: ‘It’s An Honor to be Compared to McGregor’
At just 21 years of age, Paige VanZant sure is comfortable with the amount of attention and exposure she is getting. Despite fans requesting she get a UFC Strawweight Title shot, VanZant is in no rush to get to the gold. She will be hanging back and enjoying the ride on her quest to the title.
While on UFC Tonight, VanZant shared that she was aware there will be negativity following her throughout the sport. When asked what she thought about Tecia Torres’ “Daddy Dana” remark, VanZant responded, “It’s good. It’s harsh. It’s the fight business. It creates drama in the sport and ever since she said those things I’ve gotten thousands of followers. I love what I’m doing. I don’t need negative comments. I have a lot more to prove still.”
She knows to ignore the haters because her main supporter is her boss Dana White. White recently compared VanZant to Conor McGregor— they’re both so damn popular. VanZant said of the comparison, “I think Conor is awesome and to have Dana compare me to him is a huge honor.”
