Wanderlei Ran From Commission Drug Testers, Vitor Belfort vs. Chael Sonnen For Title Shot
News broke yesterday that the much-anticipated fight between UFC fighters Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva was off. Apparently due to issues with Silva and the Nevada State Athletic Commission the UFC was forced to pull him from the fight. Sonnen, who works as one of the UFC Tonight hosts, said that Wanderlei refused to take a random drug test when approached by the NSAC.
Well the UFC worked quickly and found a replacement. Now, Sonnen will be fighting Vitor Belfort at UFC 175. The fight will take place light-heavyweight but Sonnen made a statement, insisting that the fight has middleweight title ramifications.
“The stakes are up. I am now fighting in a No. 1 contenders match. The winner of my bout will take on the winner of Chris Weidman vs. Lyoto Machida.”
As of now, the UFC has not confirmed that the fight will be for a shot at the title. Belfort of course was scheduled to fight Weidman for the title before the NSAC banned TRT usage, causing him to have to clear his body of it. What do you guys think, should the winner get the next crack at the middleweight belt?
