Weidman gives bold prediction for UFC 194 PPV buy-rate

Chris Weidman will defend his UFC middleweight championship against former Strikeforce title holder Luke Rockhold at December’s UFC 194 event in Las Vegas.

The highly anticipated event, which is headlined by a featherweight title unification bout featuring Jose Aldo taking on Conor McGregor, takes place December 12 live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Sin City.

Weidman believes that as long as the card ‘stays together’, it will be a very lucrative event for all fighters involved:

“I just want the card to stay together,” Weidman said Monday during an in-studio appearance on The MMA Hour. “If it stays together, I’m going to say (it does) 1.4 (million pay-per-view buys).”

The only other UFC event to sell $1.4 million or better in terms of pay-per-view buys was UFC 100, which sold $1.6 million on the shoulders of ‘Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir 2’ and a title defense by former welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre.
