Weidman Says He Could Have Gone Down Same Path as Jon Jones
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones’ life was flipped upside-down earlier this month after he fled the scene of a hit-and-run where a lady was injured. Many fighters chimed in and cracked jokes on Jones, but UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman has some sympathy for him.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Weidman expressed that he has faced temptation in the past and knows exactly what Jon is going through. “I don’t judge Jon at all for struggling with life’s temptations. I have tasted it myself,” Weidman told Sky Sports. “I’ve been a world champion for two years and we’ve got things at our fingertips that celebrities don’t even have… Jon is going down the wrong path at the moment but I could easily have gone down that wrong path too. We’re all vulnerable, and capable of doing bad things.”
Chris Weidman is hoping that, after all of this, Jon Jones can come back and rebound his life. “He can come back stronger because people will see a guy who has messed up but rebounded, and they will relate to that.”
