By Russell Ess - October 20, 2015

Our own BJ Penn was featured in an article from Impact Flow titled “These Four Professional Athletes Should Be In The ‘Giving Back’ Hall of Fame.” The article covered a short list of professional athletes that have uncovered their ability to make a positive difference in the world through their athletic abilities.

The article lists athletes such as the NFL’s Richard Sherman, MLB’s Felix Hernandez, and retired NBA player Brian Grant. “The Prodigy” was the only MMA fighter listed.

From Impact Flow:

At 5’9”, 145 pounds, this little guy can pack a punch. And that is exactly what ‘The Prodigy’ did over his legendary career as an MMA fighter. Although BJ Penn is no longer headlining pay per view MMA events, he is still delivering knockout blows in the community. BJ is very passionate about his home state of Hawaii so it is no surprise that his foundation, Penn Hawaii Youth Foundation, is dedicated to giving at-risk youth of his home state exposure to the tools they need to lead a successful life by teaching them the principles of martial arts.

Besides the martial arts training, the organization also takes part in beach clean up days, public art projects and partnerships with local businesses. You can visit BJ Penn’s website to learn more about BJ Penn and keep up with the latest MMA news.
