VIDEO | UFC vet Shonie Carter in bareknuckle boxing match
UFC veteran Shonie Carter is certainly one of the most outgoing figures in mixed martial arts. The Judo black belt amassed a 51-31 record throughout the course of his professional career, fighting in numerous high profile promotions such as the UFC, Bellator MMA, and the WEC to name just a few. The biggest win of Carter’s career came in 2001 at UFC 31, when ‘Mr. International’ scored a spinning backfist knockout over Matt Serra.
Recently, Carter partook in a bareknuckle boxing match in England, where he fought Jimmy Sweeney for the BKB middleweight title. While Carter managed to make it to the judges scorecards, he lost the fight handily.
With that being said, the 45 year old held his own, and made it to the judges scorecards largely in part due to his incredible toughness as Sweeny looks to mimic the ‘hands down’ showman style of Conor McGregor.
