Floyd Mayweather vs. John Gotti III rematch set for August 24th in Mexico

It seems that boxing legend Floyd Mayweather will be running it back with John Gotti III later this summer. ‘Money’ has remained retired as a professional boxer since his 2017 knockout win over Conor McGregor. However, in the years since then, Floyd Mayweather has continued to compete in exhibition boxing matches. Since December 2018, the former champion has faced everyone from Logan Paul to Tenshin Nasukawa.

The great Floyd Mayweather is reportedly set to once again return to the boxing ring. ‘Money’ is in an incredibly weird position in his career, and overall life. Floyd Mayweather famously retired from professional boxing after a knockout victory over Conor McGregor in August 2017. However, the boxer hasn’t stayed away from the ring. Instead, Mayweather has been competing in exhibition matches.

Former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre once nearly fought Floyd Mayweather. ‘Rush’ hasn’t competed since a third-round submission victory over Michael Bisping at UFC 217. That victory saw Georges St-Pierre end a four-year layoff, to defeat ‘The Count’ in Madison Square Garden. While the Canadian later showed interest in fights against the likes of Khabib Nurmagomedov, he never fought again.

Floyd Mayweather was in action for another exhibition bout on November 13 in Dubai. Deji Olatunji, Mayweather’s opponent, was coming off a pro boxing victory over fellow YouTuber Fousey back in August. Olatunji didn’t stand much of a chance against a pro boxing Hall of Famer, however. Mayweather hurt Olatunji with a left uppercut in the sixth round and the referee had seen enough following a barrage of punches. As expected, this was a one-sided affair.
