Artem Lobov questions whether Floyd Mayweather signs McGregor fight contract
Throughout the course of 2017, talks of a potential boxing match between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have continued to progress. Recently, UFC President Dana White finalized McGregor’s half of a contract for a potential boxing match with Mayweather.
Despite that, Mayweather has yet to sign his end of the contract, leading Conor McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov to question whether or not Mayweather truly wants to fight.
He spoke during his recent broadcasting appearance, saying:
“The ball is in Mayweather’s court right now. He’s the last signature that’s needed. He’s talked a big game, so let’s see if it happens now. Let’s see can he deliver now. When it really matters now, will he show up to fight?
“That’s what everybody wants to see. It’s going to be a great fight, so let’s make it happen.”
With that being said, there are many details that still need to be discussed, as UFC President Dana White recently pointed out to media members:
“We haven’t even talked percentages yet. Floyd can think whatever, but the machine that the UFC has and Conor McGregor alone is a machine by himself. I think that 50-50 is pretty fair.”
“I think this thing does, conservatively, between 2-1/2 and 4 million buys. Other people think more. … And this thing will kill it, globally. Conor McGregor and the UFC are huge in Brazil, huge in Australia, massive in the UK and other parts of Europe.”
In addition, one thing proposed by Conor McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh was the possibility of MMA referee Marc Goddard being the referee for the boxing match, which likely wouldn’t go over very well with Mayweather’s team.
Lobov for his part is currently working on some plans of his own, attempting to secure a fight with former featherweight champion Jose Aldo after his UFC 212 loss this past weekend.
