Floyd Mayweather claims he has been offered ‘nine figures’ to return to the ring

Floyd Mayweather may have retired from the sport of boxing but that doesn’t mean he isn’t fielding offers for a return fight.

The former boxing world champion, who holds an undefeated record of 49-0, retired last year after earning a unanimous decision victory over Andre Berto.

In an interview with Showtime’s Jim Gray, Floyd stated that he’s been in contact with both Showtime and CBS, the two promotions he worked with over his last six fights. However, Floyd added that he is currently happy with being retired, his words:

“Yes, I’m happy to be where I’m at,” Mayweather said (via Yahoo! Sports). “Everyone is asking, asking me, ‘Is Floyd Mayweather coming back?’ Right now, I’m happy on this side [of the ropes], but I’ve been talking with CBS and Showtime and you just never know. But for now, I’m happy on this side.

“As of right now, you know, some crazy numbers have been thrown my way, upwards of, of course, nine figures. I’m truly blessed, way beyond belief. I don’t know what we’re going to do, but right now, I’m happy being on this side helping fighters.”

Danny Garcia recently won the WBC welterweight championship, the same title that Mayweather vacated last year. A fight with the undefeated Garcia seemed to perk the interest of “Money”:

“Danny Garcia, another name, undefeated prospect, undefeated champion in two different weight classes,” Mayweather said. “Very exciting fighter. You just never know.”

Floyd added that a comeback fight will require a BIG payday:

“If I came back, of course, it would have to be a nine-figure payday and probably a championship fight,” he said.
