Floyd Mayweather will have some new tricks up his sleeve when he fights Conor McGregor
When Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor step into the boxing ring together on August 26, Mayweather is expected to dominate. He is simply far too experienced to be anything less than a massive betting favorite against the Irish mixed martial artist.
McGregor of course, will not be without his advantages. He’ll be much bigger than Mayweather. He’ll be longer. He hits harder. He might well be able to throw Mayweather off with an unorthodox approach to traditional boxing. The list goes on.
Of all the advantages in McGregor’s corner, however, it’s possible that none are as significant as Mayweather’s age. For all his skill, Mayweather is now 40 years old, and as such, many expect a slower, more fragile version of the undefeated boxer to show up on fight night.
Apparently, however, you can teach an old dog new tricks.
While Mayweather is probably out of his fighting prime, his father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., recently assured that the boxing great will have some new tricks up his sleeve when he fights McGregor – things nobody has seen from him before.
“Floyd’s gonna definitely put something on Conor McGregor. I’ve got a few presents for Conor McGregor,” the elder Mayweather said in an interview with NBC Sports Radio (h/t MMAFighting.com). “I’ve got a few things that I want to hand him. There are a few things that I want to do, and things that Floyd can do. We’re going to be able to touch him up real good.”
“Let me tell you something, even if it goes the distance, [Floyd] is going to whoop his ass. That’s what’s going to happen. Any way he wants to do it, [McGregor] is gonna get whooped. Ain’t nobody gonna say I’m wrong because they know he’s going to get whooped anyway.”
“You can believe one thing, y’all gonna see something new in this fight. You’re going to see something that he hasn’t showed you yet. When he shows it, then y’all will know it.”
What kind of new tricks do you think Floyd Mayweather will showcase in this groundbreaking mega fight with Conor McGregor?
