Mayweather’s promotion released a press release on Wednesday announcing that ‘Money’ will face MMA fighter John Gotti III in an exhibition bout on June 11 at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida. A formal announcement will be announced Thursday, according to the press release.

Floyd Mayweather (50-0) has been taking exhibition matches since he retired following his TKO victory over Conor McGregor in 2017. As a pro, Mayweather won 15 major world championships from super featherweight to light middleweight throughout his lengthy career. In his career, he had notable wins over Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, and Shane Mosley among others.

Since his retirement, he has done six exhibition bouts starting in 2018 with a TKO win over Tenshin Nasukawa in RIZIN. He then followed it up with two fights in 2021 against Logan Paul and Don Moore and then fought Mikuru Asakura in RIZIN and YouTuber, Deji in 2022. Mayweather has already fought once this year as he took on MMA fighter Aaron Chalmers in England in February. At 46-years-old, he has called these exhibitions legalized bank robberies as he gets paid a ton to box non-boxers.

“My nickname is ‘Money’ for a reason. I worked extremely hard for years and years to get to a certain level. A level where we can start calling everything an event. I believe in working smarter, not harder. So if it’s something easy like (the Paul fight), a legalized bank robbery, I gotta do it. I have to do it,” Mayweather said before his fight against Paul.

John Gotti III, meanwhile, is an MMA fighter and the Grandson of famous mob boss John Gotti, who was known as the boss of what was described as America’s most powerful crime syndicate.

As a professional MMA fighter, Gotti III is 5-1 and last fought back in 2020 when he lost a decision to Nick Alley at CES 61. Since then, he has taken two boxing matches and beat Albert Tulley by decision, and knocked out Alex Citrowske back in January.
