Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is training with legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather ahead of the upcoming Jake Paul boxing match. Mayweather last month told the media that he was inviting Woodley to come to Las Vegas to work with him ahead of the Paul fight on August 28. Woodley said that he was going to take up Mayweather on the offer, and he’s done just that. On Thursday, “The Chosen One” took to his social media to reveal that he is training with Mayweather and shared photos.

Former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson praised the Paul brothers, saying that “these guys are training like full-time athletes.” Johnson is generally regarded as one of the greatest pound-for-pound MMA fighters of all time, so when he speaks, people listen. When asked in a recent interview what he thinks about the Paul brothers and other celebrities getting into combat sports, “Mighty Mouse” says he has no problem with it. In fact, Johnson believes that these YouTubers such as the Paul brothers are training as hard as anyone and he supports what they are doing.

Jake Paul donated $5000 to the GoFundMe for UFC fighter Sarah Alpar, adding “imagine a rookie in the NBA had to start a GoFundMe to play.” Earlier this week, Alpar let her fans know that she was starting a fundraiser in order to raise money for fight camp expenses. The 30-year-old Alpar fought on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2019 and made it to the UFC with a submission win over Shanna Young. She then made her UFC debut in September 2020 and lost via third-round TKO to Jessica-Rose Clark. Alpar then had two fights fall apart for May 2021 against Stephanie Egger and Lupita Godinez, before finally being re-booked for her second UFC fight when she faces off against prospect Erin Blanchfield, but that won’t take place until Septmber.

Paul meets Woodley on August 28 in a professional boxing match promoted by Showtime PPV. For Paul, it’s his fourth pro boxing match and he earned the opportunity to fight a big name in the world of combat sports in Woodley after defeating his longtime friend and training partner Ben Askren in his last outing. For Woodley, after losing four straight fights in the UFC he was released and chose to fight Paul and earn a big payday in the process. This summer’s blockbuster PPV is expected to make both men several million dollars.

Only strap ons.” Paul recently posted a collage of photos of a number of his rivals — including his last opponent Ben Askren and his next opponent in Woodley — mostly in vulnerable situations. In Woodley’s photo, he looks emotional, and Paul was clearly trying to get in his head with the image. But it didn’t work, as Woodley said that he wasn’t emotional in the photo because he lost a fight, but rather that he was getting rewarded with his black belt. At age 46 and having not boxed professionally in over 15 years, it was easy to see where there were so many doubters of “The Spider” leading into his boxing match with Chavez Jr. However, Silva shut up the doubters by going in there and beating a pro boxer with way more experience than him.

During a recent press conference, Paul went on an expletive-filled rant and said that UFC president Dana White should be paying his fighters more money, and saying “f*ck Dana White.”

Woodley makes his professional boxing debut when he takes on Paul on August 28. It’s Woodley’s first fight since he was let go by the UFC following four straight losses, but even despite his struggles as of late, he is confident he has the skills to go in there and hand Paul his first loss in boxing. Speaking to Michael Bisping on the “Believe You Me” podcast, Woodley called his shot and said that he expects a third-round knockout over Paul.

Sunday was Father’s Day and Paul took to his social media to wish several UFC fighters all the best, only he trolled them hard. The YouTuber sensation Paul posted a collage of photos that included Usman getting choked out by Jose Caceres (with Paul photoshopped into the picture), McGregor sleeping after Dustin Poirier knocked him out at UFC 257, Daniel Cormier crying after Jon Jones knocked him out, Ben Askren just before Paul dropped him, and then Tyron Woodly, who Paul will be fighting next. It was an impressive showing by “The Spider,” who showed that he still has the reflexes and punching skills this late into his combat sports career. It was a big win for Silva, who by beating Chavez Jr. could potentially set himself up for other big paydays in the world of boxing going forward. Even during his UFC run, Silva made no secret of his desire to step back into the boxing ring, and now that he’s a free agent and able to fight anywhere in the world, there will likely be more suitors for him going forward.

Woodley recently concluded his UFC contract following four straight losses to Vicente Luque, Colby Covington, Gilbert Burns, and Kamaru Usman. Not long after this contract expired, Woodley agreed to terms with Paul for a boxing match later this summer. The two will now meet on August 28 in a highly-anticipated boxing match between the YouTuber Paul and the former UFC welterweight champion Woodley. But while the fight seems destined to be a pay-per-view blockbuster, it doesn’t appear as though White is a fan of it.

While Belfort is focused on his upcoming opponent, he can’t help but look ahead to more big paydays in boxing, and right now there isn’t a bigger payday than getting to fight the Paul brothers, Logan and Jake. He started off his boxing career with an amateur white-collar boxing match against Deji Olatunji in 2018, which he won by knockout in the fifth round. Paul then made the move to become a professional, and in his first pro boxing match, he defeated AnEsonGib by TKO in early 2020. Paul then returned to the ring in November 2020 and he knocked out former NBA dunk contest champion Nate Robinson for the biggest highlight of his career.
