Ever since UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229 earlier this month, there’s been talk of a potential rematch between the two stars. That being said, UFC President Dana White claims this is not the current plan. “I haven’t even thought about a [McGregor] rematch,” White told ESPN. “Obviously, I know Conor wants a rematch. We need to do what’s right and what’s fair. We’ll see how it plays out. We literally haven’t thought about it yet.”

Canelo Alvarez has signed a $365 million deal with streaming service DAZN, per the LA Times. This mammoth deal, which will span 5 years and 10 fights, is being called “the highest paid guaranteed contract in sports history” by Canelo’s promoter Golden Boy Promotions. Canelo’s first fight on DAZN will occur on December 15, when he battles Rocky Fielding inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Although he has plenty of interesting options in both MMA and boxing, it’s hard to say which — if any — of those options he might pick for his next contest. One of the many options for Conor McGregor is a boxing match with Paulie Malignaggi. While Malignaggi was originally supposed to serve as a training partner for McGregor ahead of his massive 2017 boxing match with Floyd Mayweather, the pair’s relationship quickly curdled and ultimately devolved into a fierce and virulent rivalry.

Undisputed UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is in a bit of trouble following his fourth-round submission win over Conor McGregor. Nurmagomedov attacked McGregor’s team following his win, while some of Nurmagomedov’s teammates attacked the Irishman in the Octagon. It was a messy scene indeed, and now many expect the NSAC to suspend Nurmagomedov and they may keep a significant portion of his $2 million purse. While that would be a big blow to Nurmagomedov, the biggest blow is that UFC President Dana White has implied he might cut any UFC fighters involved in the Nurmagomedov-McGregor brawl. Unfortunately, Nurmagomedov’s teammate Zubaira Tukhugov was one of those fighters. If White does fire Tukhugov, whose upcoming fight with Artem Lobov has already been cancelled, then Nurmagomedov said he will never fight in the UFC again.

In his eyes, McGregor failed to get inside Nurmagomedov’s head, which in turn doesn’t bode well for his chances when they fight on October 6.
