Tyson Fury open to fighting Anthony Joshua if Deontay Wilder turns down rematch

Tyson Fury has his sights on the man who could be his next opponent, and that is Anthony Joshua. “The Gypsy King,” told the fellow British heavyweight that he “missed his chance” to beat Deontay Wilder for the WBC belt, and so their matchup is the one to make. On Saturday night, Fury entered the boxing ring for a monumental rematch against Deontay Wilder. Their 2018 fight ended in a draw, but the Brit made sure that didn’t happen a second time around. Fury managed to knock Wilder down twice before claiming the TKO victory in the seventh round of their rematch.

Tyson Fury’s trainer Javan “Sugar Hill” Steward has revealed that he’s contemplating retirement after Fury’s win over Deontay Wilder. This past weekend featured one of the greatest heavyweight boxing performances of all-time when Tyson Fury defeated Deontay Wilder via TKO to capture the WBC Heavyweight Championship. Many attributed Fury’s success to his change in approach, deciding to step away from training with long-time coach Ben Davison in favor of working with the aforementioned Sugar Hill Steward.

Mayweather and McGregor first met in the summer of 2017 for a boxing superfight that shattered all sorts of financial records. Though Mayweather totally outclassed McGregor in that fight and finished him via 10th-round TKO, there have always been rumors that a rematch could eventually happen due to the sheer amount of money that is potentially available for both men to make.

Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn called out superstar Tyson Fury for a summer showdown between the two best boxing heavyweights in the world. Fury stopped Deontay Wilder in the seventh round of their rematch on Saturday night in Las Vegas to emerge as the top heavyweight in boxing. Joshua, meanwhile, defeated Andy Ruiz Jr. in December in Saudi Arabia to re-establish himself as an elite heavyweight. Both Fury and Joshua are the No. 1 and No. 2 heavyweights in the world, respectively, so a fight between them makes a lot of sense.

The two will be fighting for the WBC, The Ring, and Lineal heavyweight titles on Saturday night. It is a fight a year and a half in the making and one that will result in massive paydays for both of them. Mike Coppinger of The Athletic is reporting they will earn a minimum of $28 million, plus pay-per-view points as they are sharing the revenue 50/50. But, if there is a trilogy it would go 60/40 for whoever won.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission recently made the decision to ban Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury from squaring off after they weigh in for their Saturday night rematch, evidently wary after the pair got physical at a press conference earlier this week. Former two-division UFC champ Conor McGregor is not on board with this decision. McGregor reacted to this bizarre decision from the NSAC on Twitter. He began by praising the commission for the work it does, but then offered a solution that will allow Wilder and Fury to square off: just beef up security!
