The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) is withholding heavyweight boxer Alexander Flores’ $80,000 purse due to the bizarre ending of his latest fight. Flores took on Luis Ortiz in the PBC on FOX main event last weekend. The fight went down as a blowout in Ortiz’s favor, as he wiped Flores out in less than a minute.

Heavyweight boxing legend Evander Holyfield is reportedly interested in a trilogy fight with his long-time rival Mike Tyson. Holyfield and Tyson previously met twice during the height of the heavyweight boxing scene in the 1990s. In 1996, these two met for the first time with Holyfield winning the WBA heavyweight title with an 11th-round knockout. Then in 1997, the two met in a high-profile rematch, and Tyson was disqualified after being Holyfield’s ear in the third round. 23 years later and it appears as though we finally might get some closure on this rivalry.

Boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez is now a free agent, according to his manager and co-trainer Eddy Reynoso. Canelo, a four-division champion and one of the greatest boxers competing today, has recently been embroiled in a legal battle with Golden Boy Promotions and the streaming service DAZN, with whom he signed a record-shattering $350M deal in 2018. The lawsuit, launched in a Los Angeles Federal Court, alleges Canelo’s multi-fight deal with GBP and DAZN was breached to the tune of $280 million in damages after they failed to find him a fight since he beat Sergey Kovalev in late 2019.

In the three years since then, Mayweather has teased a comeback to the boxing ring, and most of the time he has name-dropped MMA fighters such as McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Jorge Masvidal, whoever the biggest star in MMA is at the time.

However, the bout has now been moved to a bigger arena. According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani today on a conference call with reporters promoting the fight, the highly-anticipated Tyson vs. Jones Jr. fight will take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles. That is of course the home of the LA Lakers, LA Clippers, and LA Kings.
