South Korea’s Chan Sung Jung (13-4), more widely known as “The Korean Zombie”, is one of the most popular fighters in the game. Unfortunately, the ever-entertaining featherweight has been absent from our lives for the last two years, as he completes the mandatory military service required of all South Korean men.

Luckily, that two-year stint with the military is now coming to a close, and the Zombie is ready to rise from the grave.

In the video above, the the returning Korean Zombie fills fans in on how he’s spent the last two years. As he explains, he has not only been training alongside the South Korean military. He has also been busy rehabbing nagging injuries sustained throughout his fighting career, and spending time with his two daughters.

In the video, The Korean Zombie also offers up some insight as to who he’d like to fight in his comeback bout. As it turns out, he’s interested in a fight with our very own BJ Penn, who is in the midst of a comeback of his own!

BJ Penn Kenny Florian

Originally, Penn’s comeback was expected to occur last weekend in Manila, where he was scheduled to take on Ricardo Lamas. Unfortunately, Penn was forced out of this bout with an injury. This of course, opens the door for the Korean Zombie, who is optimistic that he and Penn will be ready to return to the Octagon at the same time.

“For the past six months, there’s been a fighter that I’ve wanted to fight: BJ Penn,” The Korean Zombie explains in the video. “When the Penn vs. Lamas fight was announced, I thought I missed my chance, but then I heard Penn had a rib injury, so I kind of felt like it was an opportunity for me. It would be great timing if BJ Penn and I were ready to come back at the same time.”

“Since he fought at lightweight before, I never really thought about fighting him, but when he came down to featherweight, I would think that all of the fighters in the division would want to fight him,” he continued. “I’m one of them. Since I’m making my comeback, and BJ is going to be coming back as well, I’d really like the chance to fight him.”
