ONE Championship star Vitor Belfort is hoping to get his hands on former WWE and UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. Belfort, who spent many years as one of the UFC’s top middleweights, recently made the jump over to ONE Championship. While he was briefly linked to a special-rules fight with Alain Ngalani, that plan hit a snag due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The opening betting odds have been released for potential heavyweight matchups between Brock Lesnar versus Jon Jones and Fedor Emelianenko. Reports surfaced on Monday that Lesnar is currently a free agent after his contract with WWE expired. Rumors have already popped up that Lesnar could make a return to MMA, where he starred as the UFC heavyweight champion from 2008 to 2010. If Lesnar does return to MMA, he could potentially fight again in the UFC or possibly in Bellator, whose president Scott Coker has already admitted he’s interested in bringing Lesnar aboard.

A source said that Lesnar saw Riddle and wanted to know the reality of the situation between them.

UFC president Dana White says that his biggest matchmaking regret is never booking a heavyweight fight between Brock Lesnar and Fedor Emelianenko. Lesnar and Emelianenko were arguably the two biggest superstars in the sport at the beginning of the 2010s. However, his moment of happiness was short-lived as Cain Velasquez entered, making his WWE debut. He proceeded to hunt down Lesnar and unload some punches before Brock was eventually able to break free and escape. The pair gave each other the death glare as Lesnar edged closer to the ring again. The narrative implied that this was the first time Lesnar had run away and the first time he was scared.

After a year of speculation that his return was happening, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar decided not to return to the UFC and opted to re-sign with WWE instead. After months and months of anticipation, the fight reportedly fizzled out earlier this week, leading the UFC to schedule a Daniel Cormier vs. Stipe Miocic rematch instead. Speaking to ESPN, UFC President Dana White stated that this Cormier-Lesnar matchup was quashed because Lesnar decided he is “done” with mixed martial arts. According to Dave Meltzer of Wresting Observer Newsletter, however, it’s not quite that simple.
