UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has been chasing a super fight with Brock Lesnar for quite a while now. Unfortunately for him, the fight has yet to materialize, and with Lesnar currently engaged with WWE, it could be some time before it does. Speaking on ESPN during Saturday night’s UFC Nashville broadcast, Cormier hinted that he might try to expedite the process by ambushing Brock Lesnar at WWE’s WrestleMania 35 event on April 7.

That being said, it’s not abundantly clear who is next opponent will be. While Thiago Santos — nicknamed “Marreta” — seems to be the frontrunner, the allure of heavyweight fights with Daniel Cormier and Brock Lesnar are difficult to ignore.

Daniel Cormier was supposed to partake in the final fight of his career before his 40th birthday this March. Well, that is no longer going to happen. Both Cormier and his head coach Javier Mendez have said his retirement will be delayed. Now, the question is, how many fights does Cormier have left, and who will his next opponent be? He definitely has options, whether it’s a fight with Brock Lesnar, a rematch against Stipe Miocic, or a trilogy fight with Jon Jones. But if Mendez has any say in the matter, it probably won’t be a Miocic rematch.

UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has already successfully defended his heavyweight title in which he earned in July with a stunning first-round knockout victory over the defending king, Stipe Miocic. It seemed clear after that fight that Cormier’s first heavyweight title defense would come against another former heavyweight champion in the WWE star, Brock Lesnar.

A few months ago Lesnar lost his Universal WWE championship which led us to the confirmation that he would definitely be making his way back to the MMA world.

Daniel Cormier’s planned heavyweight title super fight with former UFC heavyweight champ and WWE star Brock Lesnar is unanimously expected to be a box office smash, but not everybody is expecting the fight to be competitive. Instead, it’s common opinion that Cormier, undeniably one of the best fighters ever to compete in MMA, will hand Lesnar a pretty lopsided whooping. Whether that’s accurate or not, former UFC heavyweight and current MMA analyst Brendan Schaub is confident of one thing: Brock Lesnar will be a tougher test for Daniel Cormier than his last opponent Derrick Lewis, who he submitted in the second round in the main event of UFC 230 last weekend.

Lesnar then shoved Cormier, causing chaos in the Octagon and adding some serious zest to their potential matchup. Although Daniel Cormier was then expected to fight Brock Lesnar next, he instead agreed to battle streaking contender Derrick Lewis in the UFC 230 main event on November 3.
