Dana White shoots down Manny Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor
If you have a draw in the sport of boxing, why wouldn’t you drop your name in the hat to be in the talks of a superfight with UFC superstar Conor McGregor?
Manny Pacquiao is one of the latest boxing stars to say that he would fight McGregor if given the opportunity and chances are that the fight would be much more exciting stylistically than a bout with Floyd Mayweather. UFC President Dana White recently made Floyd Mayweather an offer to fight Conor McGregor for a guaranteed $25 million and a split of pay-per-view buys to be negotiated.
A spokesman for Pacquiao quoted the Filipino boxing legend on Sunday saying, “If McGregor will fight me in boxing, why not? But not in MMA. MMA is much different than boxing.”
Yahoo Sports reported that Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, said that their president of the Top Rank promotion, Todd duBoef, is a longtime friend of UFC chief operating officer Lawrence Epstein. Arum stated that duBoef would give Epstein a call to have a talk open up the conversation.
“Todd has agreed to call Lawrence, and they have a great relationship, and tell him what Manny’s interest is and see what happens,” Arum said. “That’s it.”
However, the report has quoted Dana White saying that he has absolutely no interest in doing any business with Manny Pacquiao, if Bob Arum is involved.
“Listen, I love Manny Pacquiao,” White said. “But I don’t love Bob Arum. You can tell Arum to save his money and not make any calls over here because we aren’t doing business with him.”
Who would you rather see Conor McGregor take on in the boxing ring? Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather? Let’s talk about this one in the comment section.
