Floyd Mayweather’s teammate confident McGregor superfight will happen
Throughout the course of 2017, undefeated boxing icon Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor have continued to be linked to a boxing superfight.
The year started with Mayweather offering McGregor $15 million for a boxing superfight, with UFC President Dana White then countering Mayweather’s offer with one of his own. Mayweather of course laughed off the offer, reiterating that he wouldn’t fight for less than $100 million.
While McGregor had remained rather quiet on the matter, he recently fired back while addressing media members at the Madison Square Garden, stating:
“I’m the boxing guy, watch me take over boxing. Trust me on that. No one in this boxing game knows what’s coming, trust me on that, when I step in there I’m going to shock the whole god damn world. Trust me on that! Look me in the eyes, 28 years of age, confident as a motherfucker. Long, range-y, dangerous with every hand, trust me I’m going to stop Floyd. You’re all going to eat your words. The whole world is going to eat their words. I’m out of here…I am boxing!”
Now, Mayweather’s teammate, UFC lightweight Kevin Lee, spoke in an interview with Helen Yee to discuss the potential scrap, saying:
“That fight with Floyd, it’s going to happen. Floyd’s management reached out to me a little while ago and asked me to be a part of the camp. So I’m excited to do that, I could use a couple bucks in my pocket, that’s for sure.”
“It’s a win-win situation for him. If he loses — which he’s going to lose, he don’t stand a chance in the fight — he knows it going in he’s just there for the cash grab and then he’ll come back and fight (Nate) Diaz, or he’ll bump up and fight Tyron (Woodley), before he jumps down and messes with us real killers at 155. He ain’t stupid.”
