We have not seen current #1 UFC ranked lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov compete since November of last year where he defeated Michael Johnson by submission in the third round. “The Eagle” was scheduled to fight #2 ranked lightweight Tony Ferguson in a UFC interim lightweight title fight at UFC 209 in March. However, Nurmagomdeov suffered weight management medical issues hours before the UFC 209 weigh-ins and was taken to a hospital and the interim title fight was canceled. Since the mishap, Khabib has stated that he has been recovering from his medical issues suffered in March and was aiming to fight Ferguson first and then Conor McGregor in the Winter. McGregor has stated that a fight with Nurmagomedov in his home country of Russia is something that has his interest after his mega money fight with Floyd Mayweather in August.

If Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh is to believed, the Irish MMA star should be ready to fight – and beat – Floyd Mayweather any day now. On a late June episode of The MMA Hour, Kavanagh claimed McGregor would be ready for the undefeated pugilist in just three weeks’ time, far less than eight weeks he actually had left to prepare at the time. “We have two more weeks in Ireland, then the guys will head to Las Vegas,” Kavanagh said (h/t MMAMania). “We’ll then have six weeks in Vegas before the fight, but I watched the session today and said we would be ready in three weeks.”

The tour drew out upward of 50,000 fans and generated countless headlines. The tour was also very exclusive. Tickets were expensive, and they weren’t easy to get even if you could afford them. Media credentials were also pretty difficult to acquire. Backstage access, finally, was as locked down as Area 51. The inner workings of these tour stops were only accessible to members of the two fighters’ teams, the promoters, and the crew.

In New York, on the third stop of the tour, Conor McGregor attempted to address the criticism, stating that what many don’t know is that he is half black – “from the belly button down”. The joke fell a bit flat with those in attendance, however McGregor then proceeded to state that he loves black women, which then led to a sexual gesture on stage.
