We’ve seen Conor hanging out with Jennifer Lopez at her birthday. Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo paid “The Notorious” a visit during his UFC 202 training camp preparing for his rematch with Nate Diaz. Kanye West went out to watch McGregor and Diaz fight at UFC 202 and the rapper was seen backstage having a friendly exchange with the Irish prize fighter.

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is sitting at the top of the game of mixed martial arts. The Irish superstar has a UFC lightweight title fight against the lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez coming up on November 12 and has a chance to make history by becoming the first UFC fighter to ever be the champion of two divisions at the same time. However, “The Notorious” obviously had to start somewhere. McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh recently spoke with Paul Kimmage of the Independent of their first time meeting and how a coach and student relationship was firmly established the very first day they met.

UFC 205, which will emanate from New York City’s hallowed Madison Square Garden on November 12, will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between divisional king Eddie Alvarez and undisputed featherweight champ Conor McGregor. The bout will mark Alvarez’s opportunity to derail one of the biggest hype trains in MMA, and McGregor’s opportunity to make history as the first fighter to hold two UFC titles concurrently. Needless to say, this is a massive fight. For a time, however, it looked as though this fight wouldn’t actually come to fruition, as the UFC had a difficult time negotiating its terms with both fighters involved. Our chances of seeing this fight looked bleakest in late September, when UFC President Dana White assured that the next shot at Alvarez’s lightweight title would go to undefeated contender Khabib Nurmagomedov – not McGregor.

Ahead of UFC 205 on November 12th, UFC President Dana White revealed that UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will be making a “personal” announcement “out of left field”. Of course, fans immediately began speculating as to what the announcement could be, given that the fight is arguably the biggest in UFC history. Reports began to emerge that McGregor was going to take around a year off to mend relationships with family members that had been strained by his busy work schedule. While there had been no word from McGregor himself, reports then began to emerge from people in McGregor’s camp stating that he would be taking a year off from fighting to help his girlfriend, Dee Devlin with the upcoming birth of their first child.

With that being said, UFC President Dana White has remained adamant that McGregor will indeed be forced to vacate one of the championships if he emerges from the historic scrap victorious. While McGregor was initially very reluctant to give up one of the belts, stating that the UFC brass would need an army to take one of them from him, he has since softened his stance, stating that before there are talks of him vacating a belt, he wants the world to see the historic photos of him victorious at UFC 205 with two title belts.
