John Kavanagh: There's "no excuses" if Conor McGregor loses at UFC 202

After Conor McGregor was handed his first UFC loss at the hands of Nate Diaz back in March at UFC 196, the featherweight champ refused to make excuses for the loss, simply chalking the situation up to an “inefficient use of energy”. Ahead of the pair’s rematch at UFC 202 on August 20th, McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, believes that if his prized pupil loses again, there are no excuses. He explained in an editorial for The42:

Conor McGregor didn’t change his tune after the backlash from many WWE wrestlers again tweeting, “I didn’t mean no disrespect to the @wwe fans. What I meant to say was that I’d slap the head off your entire roster. And twice on Sunday’s.”

Dos Anjos pulled out of the fight with McGregor less than two weeks before they were scheduled to fight with an injury and then Nate Diaz stepped in and shocked the world, submitting “The Notorious” in the second round of their fight.

Earlier this year the MMA community mourned the death of fighter Joao Carvalho who passed away after being TKOd during an event in Dublin. The man who TKOd Carvalho was Charlie Ward, teammate of UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor. The featherweight champ not only helped Ward prepare for the fight, but was also sitting cageside for the catastrophe. McGregor was extremely vocal about the tragedy, posting heartfelt messages on his social media pages regarding the heartbreaking situation.
