The UFC featherweight champion that has a historic fight scheduled against lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196 on March 5 announced on Twitter that he has been placed in the UFC Hall of Fame. “The Notorious” tweeted the following message that resonated a very loud message to his fans: “I’m happy to announce that I have inducted myself into the UFC hall of fame. Details of event to follow.”

Both Rafael dos Anjos and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone said that it was a bad idea for McGregor to move up. UFC welterweight Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson on the other hand thinks that going a step further and joining the guys at 170lbs would be a great move for the UFC featherweight champion. It isn’t as big of a piece as Ronda Rousey’s mural who lives in the city as the hometown hero, but for the Irishman’s fame, it is a step in the right direction.

This will mark the vocal 145-pound champion’s first fight at 155 pounds in the UFC and is looking like he is putting on the weight well. McGregor posted this photo to his Instagram account. It looks like it is a promotional shoot for UFC 197 with McGregor looking noticeably more muscular.
