Several years ago, a video of Conor McGregor sparring with Hafþór Björnsson, the Icelandic bodybuilder and actor who played “The Mountain” on Game of Thrones, took the Internet by storm. UFC commentator Joe Rogan recently revisited this viral video on his popular podcast The Joe Rogan Experience. He’s seemingly as impressed by it today as he was when it first came out.

Michael Bisping believes former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor is probably ‘hoping and praying’ that Dustin Poirier dethrones UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 this September. McGregor and Nurmagomedov fought in October of 2018. Nurmagomedov won the fight via fourth-round submission, and McGregor has been campaigning for a do-over ever since. Yet Bisping believes McGregor would probably prefer to see Poirier win, as the Irishman holds a victory over “The Diamond” and could conceivably earn a title fight with him based on that.

Proper No. Twelve, the Irish whiskey created by former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor, has already taken Ireland and the United States by storm. Now, it’s poised to do the same in Canada. On Wednesday, it was announced that Proper No. Twelve has hit shelves in the Great White North, and on Thursday, McGregor made it official himself, toasting Toronto, The Raptors, Drake, and the entire country in a video posted to Twitter.

Jon Jones has found himself in quite a bit of trouble outside the cage over the years — most recently for an incident involving a waitress at a strip club. According to former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley however, Jones does not behave any worse than Conor McGregor, who Woodley believes is treated with much more understanding when he errs. In fact, Woodley believes McGregor is even glorified for his troubles outside the cage.

Jorge Masvidal has been campaigning for a fight with Conor McGregor for several weeks, but from the sounds of it, his callouts of the Irishman are not rooted in bad blood. In fact, Masvidal seems to have quite a bit of respect for the former two-division champion. “First, let me say whether Conor takes it or not — because people be putting sometimes words in people’s mouths, from my mouth in particular — I got good things to say about Conor,” Masvidal told TMZ Sports (transcript via MMA Fighting). “He’s done a lot in this sport and he’s made his money already. If he feels he’s not getting the money he deserves to come back, man I’m the first one to applaud him and be like, ‘Do your thing my brother. Go get the money.’ I always cheer for my MMA brothers and sisters. So if he feels he ain’t getting his money’s worth, I’m not gonna call ever him a p*ssy for that, or nothing like that. Go get your money’s worth. That’s the first thing I want to say.

We know that UFC megastar Conor McGregor is hoping for an immediate title shot when he returns to the Octagon. He wants the winner of UFC 242’s Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Dustin Poirier, but it doesn’t look like he’ll get it, at least not just yet. Speaking to TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter, UFC president Dana White confirmed that although McGregor wants to fight the winner of Nurmagomedov vs. Poirier, the Irish star is behind Tony Ferguson when it comes to getting the next lightweight title shot.

Shortly after Jorge Masvidal defeated Ben Askren with a five-second flying knee knockout at UFC 239, he called for a superfight with Conor McGregor. UFC President Dana White, however, promptly shut this idea down, claiming Masvidal is simply too big for a fight with McGregor. Apparently, this comment from White did not go over well with McGregor.

We haven’t seen Conor McGregor fight inside the Octagon since his fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov last October at UFC 229. McGregor was suspended following the event for the infamous post-fight brawl, as was Nurmagomedov, but McGregor was cleared to return to active competition a few months ago. Still, he hasn’t had a fight booked yet. There were rumors McGregor wanted to fight this summer, with Donald Cerrone calling him out on numerous occasions, but obviously at this point that won’t happen. Speaking to Brett Okamoto of ESPN, White said that he doesn’t know exactly when McGregor’s next fight would be, but once again reiterated he wants to wait to see what happens when Nurmagomedov fights Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 this September in Abu Dhabi for the UFC lightweight championship.

Former two division champion Conor McGregor may not be competing at tonight’s UFC 240 event in Edmonton, but he is definitely watching. McGregor, who has not stepped foot inside the cage since his submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, has been going off on Twitter over the past hour.

The two have traded shots at each other in the lead up to UFC 229 where the Irishman was making fun of Khabib Nurmagomedov for going the distance with a Real Estate Agent. Don’t close the book on a 2019 return for Conor McGregor just yet. McGregor has teased retirements and returns several times. The former UFC “champ-champ” competed back in Oct. 2018 against Khabib Nurmagomedov. “The Eagle” successfully retained his UFC lightweight title by submitting McGregor in the fourth round at UFC 229. Chaos ensued in a post-fight brawl and both men were suspended and fined for their roles in the fracas. They are both free to return to the Octagon now and Nurmagomedov will be in action on Sept. 7 against Dustin Poirier.

Five years just passed since Conor McGregor fought Diego Brandao at UFC Fight Night 46 in Dublin, Ireland. McGregor was still and up-and-coming featherweight at that point in time, and the first-round TKO win over Brandao helped legitimatize McGregor as a forced to be reckoned with at 145lbs in the Octagon. On the fifth-year anniversary of their fight, McGregor took to social media to tell his former foe that he thinks he should be back in the UFC. Brandao was released by the UFC in 2016, and has been fighting for promotions such as RIZIN and Fight Nights Global ever since then.

Thursday was the four-year anniversary of UFC 189, which was topped by a blockbuster interim featherweight title fight between Conor McGregor and Chad Mendes. McGregor had originally been expected to battle undisputed champion Jose Aldo on the card, but was matched up with Mendes on 10 days’ notice when Aldo sustained an injury in training.
