Conor McGregor and Coach React to Boxing Floyd Mayweather in 8oz Gloves

By Justin Golightly - August 16, 2017

The mission has been accomplished. Floyd Mayweather played the system to get the gloves changed to a smaller size to push the betting lines, since he’s betting on himself. Conor McGregor gets the 8oz gloves to push the lore of his mystical and mutant power. All parties are happy, even McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh. In a statement released to The Mac Life, McGregor celebrates the change as his coach takes to Twitter with an excellent GIF choice.

“I am very pleased with the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s handling of my next bout today. Fair play was kept all the way through. Referee – Hall of famer Robert Byrd. Judges – Burt Clements. Dave Morreti and Guido Cavalerri. 8oz gloves approved, with pre and post fight analysis of the gloves on the night. This was handled very well and very fairly by the NSAC. I am very pleased and respect the commissions ruling on this. Ten days until fight time.” – Conor McGregor via The Mac Life.

Keep in mind, just a few days ago McGregor gave his take on what happens to Floyd Mayweather if the gloves got shrunk down to 8oz. According to him, the undefeated champ doesn’t make it to the third round. Probably something about a pea-head clanging off the canvas as well. Experts on both sides seem split on if the difference of 2oz even makes a difference or not, but in 10 days we’ll have our answers.
