T-Mobile Arena saving date for possible Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor bout

If UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and undefeated boxing star Floyd Mayweather meet in the boxing ring, it’ll go down as one of the biggest fights – if not the biggest fight – in combat sports history.

Discussions about this fight have been cooking for over a year. For the most part, however, there has seemed to be more reason to believe it won’t happen than there are to believe it’ll actually come to fruition. That is changing.

Earlier this month, Mayweather officially emerged from his longstanding pseudo-retirement. He did so with the singular focus of fighting McGregor, even offering up the month of June as a possible target.

“I’m coming out of retirement just to fight Conor McGregor,” Mayweather said. 

“I don’t want to hear no more excuses about the money, about the UFC,” he continued. “Sign the paper with the UFC so you can fight me in June. Simple and plain. Let’s fight in June. You’re the B side, I’m the A side. We’re not here to cry about money. I’m tired of all this crying about money and talking about you want to fight. You blowing smoke up everybody’s ass. If you want to fight, sign the paperwork, let’s do it.”

Now, we have another reason to believe this fight could actually occur. According to Flocombat.com, the T-Mobile Arena – a massive, combat sports venue in the combat sports mecca of Las Vegas, Nevada – is confident enough that this fight will come to fruition that they’re saving the date June 10 for it. This of course, is not an assurance the fight will happen. It is, however, another step in the direction of arguably the biggest fight in the history of pugilism.
