While the masses will be tuning into the Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor boxing match, there are some that are totally against the money fight being put together.

Oscar De La Hoya, the boxing legend who is now promoting boxing events has been very vocal about how the wild matchup between the undefeated great in Mayweather and the current UFC lightweight champion is bad for the sport of boxing.

Fellow boxing promoter Lou DiBella spoke with Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting recently about the spectacle of a matchup (at 5:00 of the video) and sees it from a completely different point of view.

“I’m not against it. Oscar should shut the hell up,” DiBella said. “He should shut the f**k up.

“He walked out of some, like, club or whatever talking about the guy fighting Canelo Alvarez. All of a sudden, now, the biggest name in boxing, the biggest guy, he’s over 40, he’s in retirement, coming out of retirement, he’s a superstar, Mayweather, gonna fight Conor McGregor. Probably the most charismatic, biggest self-promoter in the history of MMA, and it’s a mega event. It’s an event! It’s not a boxing match. It’s a freaking event. It’s a spectacle. I wanna see it.”

When asked if McGregor has a chance of winning, DiBella gave the UFC champ the chance to win if Mayweather may be looking the other way in the fight.

“Is he gonna win? He’s not gonna f**king win,” DiBella said of McGregor. “But, it could be fun.”

As for those claiming that the matchup is bad for the sport of boxing, DiBella said that anything bringing people to watch the sport or bringing attention to it is a good thing. DiBella went on to say that the last fight between Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. that De La Hoya put on was bad for the sport of boxing.

“But Oscar, holier than now Oscar, running around with the manifestos about how this is bad for boxing. Shut the f**k up,” DiBella exclaimed.
