Brendan Schaub points out insane new negotiating power of Conor McGregor to Joe Rogan

Coming off the biggest payday of his career, Conor McGregor is expected to head back to the UFC and likely defend his UFC lightweight title.

With his guaranteed $30 million fight purse for the historic boxing match with Floyd Mayweather, “The Notorious” will earn a lot more in his cut of the pay-per-view buys and endorsements for the fight. With such a big shift in pay in his professional boxing debut, what will Conor’s fight purses look like going back to the UFC?

Joe Rogan and Brendan Schaub spoke about the Mayweather vs McGregor fight on the Joe Rogan Experience on Monday and Schaub pointed another factor in McGregor’s negotiating power with the UFC as Jon Jones is going through another potential Anti-Doping Policy violation.

“Now all the chips are in Conor’s corner,” said Schaub. “He’s the only superstar, legit superstar in town. He’s like, ‘Listen, you want me to fight again? I know that’s the old contract. This is what I’m worth. What do you guys want to do?’ It’s the only way it’s gonna happen.”

Rogan thought for a second and said, “There is no second. Who else is number two? Honestly, it might be Stipe. And, I mean that’s not even, he’s the heavyweight champ. At least there’s something to it.”

However, both Schaub and Rogan agreed that Miocic’s stardom was “not even close” to McGregor’s.

Rogan also brings up UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping’s name and former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, who are scheduled to fight in November but again do not think the levels are near McGregor’s draw at this point.
