Every time Conor McGregor accomplishes a new and massive feat, it leaves fans eager to see him try to one-up that feat. When he knocked out Jose Aldo to win the featherweight title, fans immediately wanted to see him challenge for lightweight gold. When he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to win that lightweight gold, buzz about a potential welterweight title fight with Tyron Woodley quickly began to resurface. And then, of course, there’s the ever-present discourse about McGregor testing himself in a boxing match with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.

Whether you believe such a fight is possible or not, you’re probably still interested in seeing it. Most people are. That includes rapper 50 Cent, who is a known friend of Mayweather.

Apparently, the rapper recently crossed paths with UFC President Dana White, and spoke with him about this much-discussed mega fight. White recounted the encounter to Jay and Dan on Fox Sports.

“Yeah I was at dinner in New York for [UFC 205] and we bumped into each other at dinner,” the UFC president explained. “We were hanging out, we were talking for awhile. Then I went back down, sat down at my table, and ate. Then when we were leaving, he said to me ‘when’s your boy going to fight Floyd?’ And I said ‘My boy? Who are you talking about, Conor?’ And he said ‘yeah.’ And I said ‘Floyd doesn’t wanna fight Conor.’ And he said, ‘he does, Dana. He’s dead serious about it.’ And I said, ‘I don’t know man, call Floyd and see what’s going on.’ So that’s how the whole thing got started up again.”

While Mayweather might actually be serious about fighting McGregor, however, White went on to explain that this fight is going to be almost impossible to put together.

“Listen, if you look at the Mayweather vs. [Manny] Pacquiao fight, it was the biggest fight in boxing in forever. It was all anybody talked about. Look how long it took to get that done, and they’re both in the same sport. I highly doubt this fight would ever happen.”
