Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor reveal expected fight weights for August 26 showdown
The contracted weight for Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor‘s August 26 boxing match is 154 pounds. That said, neither man is likely to weigh exactly that much on fight night. Instead, McGregor is sure to be a little over, while Mayweather should tip the scales slightly below the fight’s 154-pound cap.
The expected fight weights of both athletes were revealed by their representatives during Wednesday afternoon’s NAC meeting, during which the fight’s referee and judges were announced, and the long-awaited decision on glove size was also made.
According to Conor McGregor’s representative Mike Mersch, the Irish star currently weighs about 160 pounds. After cutting weight, stepping onto the scale, and rehydrating, he is expected to weigh about the same on fight night.

Mayweather, meanwhile, should weigh about 150 pounds on the night of the fight, per his lawyer.

In case you missed our other articles, the referee for Mayweather and McGregor’s blockbuster battle will be Robert Byrd, the same referee who was criticized for letting Sergey Kovalev and Andrey Ward’s first fight get so physical. Good news for McGregor, to say the least.
The judges, meanwhile, will be a a trio of Burt Clements, Dave Moretti and Guido Cavalieri.
Glove size, finally, will be 8 oz., down from the originally planned 10 oz.
“The proposal is unique as the fight itself,” Mayweather’s rep said of this decreased glove size (h/t BJPenn.com’s own Justin Golightly.. “It will help them give the best show and show their best talents. It is a long standing rule, sir. But obviously, this is a special event. […] Mr. Mayweather is used to using 8-oz gloves. He believes they are the best ones for him. To contest the bout and to defend himself with.”
