Frankie Edgar randomly tested by USADA
At the end of the first year of random out-of-competition testing, the US Anti-Doping Agency expressed their desire to increase the number of out-of-competition drug tests in the program’s second year with the UFC.
Former UFC lightweight champion, and #2 ranked UFC featherweight, Frankie ‘The Answer’ Edgar took to Instagram to reveal that he was tested by USADA this morning. Edgar also included the captions “#SoFreshAndSoCleanClean” and “#CleanAF”.
Edgar is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Jose Aldo in the main card of UFC 200 back in July. The fight served as the highly anticipated rematch between the pair, and was contested for the interim UFC featherweight championship. Aldo was able to use his length to keep Edgar at a distance, picking apart the gritty wrestler while he stuffed Edgar’s takedowns.
The loss snapped Edgar’s spectacular 5-fight win streak that saw him defeat Charles Oliveira, BJ Penn, Cub Swanson, Urijah Faber, and Chad Mendes.
There has been no official word yet on when Edgar will return to the Octagon, however it has been reported that he will fight Jeremy ‘Lil Heathen’ Stephens at the UFC’s inaugural event in The Empire State at UFC 205.
Several bouts are rumored to be slated for UFC 205, including Tyron Woodley vs. Stephen Thompson for the welterweight championship, Donald Cerrone vs. Kelvin Gastelum, and Chris Weidman vs. Yoel Romero to name just a few.
In addition, it has been reported that Conor McGregor & Eddie Alvarez will fight for the UFC lightweight championship. According to the report, the hang-up with that fight being made official is Conor McGregor not wanting to relinquish the featherweight championship.
