Surging women’s flyweight contender Erin Blanchfield picked up the biggest win of her UFC career last Saturday when she submitted Jessica Andrade. Blanchfield (11-1 MMA) was returning to the Octagon for the first time since scoring an impressive first-round submission win over Molly McCann at November’s UFC 281 event. That victory had improved Blanchfield’s win streak to seven in a row, with four of those wins coming under the UFC banner.

This past Saturday, in the UFC Vegas 69 main event, Jessica Andrade suffered a second-round submission loss to the rising Erin Blanchfield. Andrade revealed she was embarrassed following the defeat, but not with her performance as such, but due to a wardrobe malfunction during the bout. As of late, Andrade was starting to show why she was a former champion. Prior to Saturday past, she was riding a three-fight win streak, with dominant showings over Cynthia Calvillo, Amanda Lemos, and more recently, Lauren Murphy at UFC 283 in Brazil.

In the main event of UFC Vegas 69, Erin Blanchfield headlined her first UFC event as she took on Jessica Andrade – who stepped up on short notice at women’s flyweight. Blanchfield was supposed to face Taila Santos but a week out the Brazilian withdrew and Andrade stepped up. Blanchfield entered the fight being a perfect 4-0 in the UFC and was coming off a submission win over Molly McCann. Andrade, meanwhile, had picked up a lopsided decision win over Lauren Murphy at UFC 283.

Santos (19-2 MMA) was slated to return for the first time since suffering a split decision loss to Valentina Shevchenko last June at UFC 275. The upcoming UFC 266: Blachowicz vs. Teixeira PPV card has a new date, and Jessica Andrade vs. Cynthia Calvillo has been added to the event. UFC 266 was originally targeted for September 4, but the event has now been moved to September 25. No location or venue was announced. Carlos Contreras Legaspi of ESPN Deportes was the first to report the date, as well as the addition of the Andrade vs. Calvillo fight to the card. In addition to the Blachowicz vs. Texeira UFC light heavyweight title fight in the main event, there have been whispers the UFC featherweight title fight between TUF 29 coaches Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega may also be added to this card.
